LMM6018.LF is a self-adhesive, paper-backed tape designed with similar pigments and formula as our liquid LMM products. The LMM6018 or tape is a version of the LMM6000. It makes general-purpose black marks on most types of harder metals such as stainless steel and clear anodized aluminum. It is not designed for bare aluminum or soft metals like brass or copper. ** CerMark Tape can mark on nickel-plated aluminum, but there are some important considerations for good results:

Nickel plating usually has a smooth, reflective surface, which is ideal for adhering to CerMark Tape.

Clean the surface well with isopropyl alcohol before applying the tape to ensure there is no grease, dirt, or debris to interfere.

Adjust the power and speed according to the thickness of the nickel coating and the CerMark Tape manufacturer's recommendations.

High power and low speed: This ensures that the energy is concentrated enough to fuse the tape material to the nickel coating.

Be sure to perform tests to determine the optimum parameters.

Cooling and cleaning After etching, allow the part to cool before removing the tape. Wash the surface with warm water to remove residue and reveal the mark.

Expected result: When used correctly, CerMark Tape creates tough, high-quality, durable black marks on nickel-plated aluminum capable of withstanding abrasion, heat, and chemicals. For best results and speed, 60W or more is recommended. A high resolution (600 DPI or higher) allows for sharper marks.

Fiber lasers 20W may be sufficient, but 30W or more is better for faster and sharper applications.

Will not work with YAG, YVO4 lasers.

It works well on most metal surfaces, offering a dry processing alternative to those not interested in or unable to work with wet products. It is also easier to use: the tape delivery system ensures that a consistent layer of marking material is present on the substrate, entirely removing the variables of dilution and coat thickness.

In addition, LMM6018.LF is CerMark's recommended product for marking on clear or colored anodized metal. LMM6018.'s unique ability to mark over an anodized layer, rather than through it, is a major step forward in marking anodized surfaces. Important Note: This tape is only available through authorized Cermark / Ferro distributors. CerMark discontinued the old thicker tape with the release of this new and improved product. If you have used that product unsuccessfully in the past, we urge you to try this product.
